Matthew Lazzara, a Meteorologist in the Antarctic Meteorological Research Center at SSEC, has recently returned from the 2003 annual maintenance of the Automated Weather Stations in the Antarctic. The stations have been installed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with support from the National Science Foundation.
It was his fifth trip to Antarctica, and he is excited to share his journey with you through his journal entries and photo albums now available on this site. George Weidner and Jonathan Thom were also in Antarctica this season again!
